Prayers, Supplications
To Begin a Study Session
This prayer is based on John 20:22;
17:3 and Luke 24:45 and should be repeated whenever the Gospel is opened to the
chapter and verses to be studied at that time:
“Loving Father, here I am (we are)
before your divine Word just as your shocked disciples were on the
night of your Son Jesus Christ’s resurrection. I am (we are)
praying in His Name that once again he breathes upon me (us) the Holy
Spirit.
“With the Breath of your Spirit,
your Son immediately places me (us) in the realm of divinity. The
fullness of Agape Love, of your peace, your joy and of your holiness
becomes mine (ours). Only in this atmosphere can your Spirit and my
(our) spirit become one.
“I am (we are) also asking that
Jesus may enlighten my (our) understanding for the deep and complete
comprehension of your Word. I (we) long to know you and your Son
thus, since his promise is that only as I (we) know you in the
Gospels, and in the rest of the Sacred Scriptures, I (we) begin
enjoying eternal life here and now.
“Thanks you for granting me (us)
these unmerited requests.
“In the Name of Jesus. Amen.”
To Refrain from Sinning
This prayer must be repeated the
instant a temptation, provocation, doubt, fear, distraction,
self-sufficiency, etc. makes contact with your conscience. This is
the prayer our first parents, Adam and Eve, ought to have prayed when
they were tempted to disobey the Lord in the garden of Eden. Had
they done so, sin would not have entered the world:
“I choose Christ over anything
that eclipses his matchless beauty. I only want to see you, my
Jesus. No one has ever Loved me nor will ever Love me as you Love
me.”
This prayer is indispensable especially when we are studying the life of Christ in the Gospels because all the forces of evil are intent on opposing us during that sacred time.
